About Jess Walsh
Jess Walsh is an artist and photographer whose passion for Ireland's natural beauty shines through in every piece. Her work captures the essence of the Irish landscape, with a particular focus on the breathtaking scenery of the West of Ireland. From rolling hills and rugged coastlines to tranquil lakes and ancient ruins, Jess's art invites viewers to experience the magic and mystery of the Irish countryside.
I moved from Dublin to Oughterard, County Galway in 2008. I got to know and love the West of Ireland as my parents had lived there for many years.
I have been taking photographs most of my life, starting with a Kodak ‘Brownie’ and our bathroom became my darkroom when I was ten! Portraits were my favourite when I was younger, but on moving to Connemara the amazing scenery took first place and the ‘Oughterard’ book came into being.
My book of flowers has been a dream for about 20 years. It’s had many incarnations along the way. The photograph of the Agapanthus on the cover was taken about 15 years ago and has been waiting all these years to come to light!
Apart from my love of photography, I also like to paint in both Watercolour and Acrylic. I am part of a local writers group and really enjoy putting pen to paper from time to time.
